ALAN MORTON, MD

Dr. Morton was born and raised in Waycross, Georgia. He graduated from Waycross High in 1987 and then went on to graduate from the University of Georgia in 1990 with a B.S. in Chemistry. Dr. Morton attended the Medical College of Georgia and obtained his Doctorate of Medicine in 1994. He completed his residency at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical center in Lexington, Kentucky in 1997. During his residency, Dr. Morton was named Intern of the Year by the faculty members.


Dr. Morton’s ultimate goal was to come back home to Waycross to practice medicine in a small community he loved. In 1997, he joined Blackshear Family Practice / Georgia Physicians South and has been a partner there for 21 years. Dr. Morton is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and recently earned his recertification for another 10 years. Currently, Dr. Morton serves as the Chief of Medicine at Memorial Satilla Health, where he also works as a hospitalist on a rotating basis. He has maintained leadership roles within the healthcare community throughout his career.



Dr. Morton also takes an interest in providing nursing home care and currently serves as the Medical Director of Baptist Village, Waycross Health & Rehab, and Harborview Satilla.

He and his wife, Kelly, have been married for 25 years. They have 4 daughters, Lindsey, McKenzie, Natalie, and Meleah. His oldest daughter Lindsey just completed her first year of medical school at the Medical College of Georgia and hopes to follow in his footsteps by returning to Waycross to serve the medical needs of her hometown community. In his spare time, Dr. Morton enjoys attending his daughter’s sporting events, traveling, and spending time with his family.

David Rios, MPA-C

David graduated with Distinction from the University of Oklahoma in 1992 and obtained his Masters of Physician Assistant Studies, in 1997, all while serving our country in the U.S. Army. He retired as a Major after 21 years of service. His specialized training included Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine. During those years, he was stationed at Fort Stewart and worked at Satilla Regional Medical Center in the Emergency Department. That is where he met his wife, Pat Phelan Rios. They have moved several times since then but always felt Waycross was “home” and love the sense of community they feel here.


David’s training allows him to offer treatments which include suturing, wound care, joint and trigger point injections as well as general family practice. David is also certified to provide DOT physicals. He is a member of the Georgia Association of Physician Assistants, the American Academy of Physician Assistants, and the Military Officers Association of America. 


David's current interests include music, playing bass guitar, travel, cars, fishing, golf, and connecting with family and friends. “Coming back to Waycross gives us the opportunity to re-connect with family and friends.

Lauren Turner, FNP-C

Lauren resides in Blackshear, Georgia where she was born and raised⁠. She is a social butterfly who loves spending time with her family, and three children, Korlee, Carden, and Cohen. She also enjoys being an active member of her church, EBC Blackshear.⁠


Lauren has worked her way through the ranks: beginning her career with an Associate of Science in nursing in 2010. As an RN she worked in the ER and OR and received her Masters of Science in Nursing in 2014. In 2016 she graduated from Walden University as a Family NP.⁠


She is board certified through AANP and performs Botox and Fillers, DOT Physicals, Women’s Wellness Exams, joint injections, sclerotherapy, and Hormone Replacement Therapy.
